Central to the religious life of the school is the person of Jesus Christ who came among us ‘as one who serves’ (Luke 22.27). Our Catholic school is committed to reaching out to help those in need, through charitable outreach initiatives. All outreach activities connect to the person of Jesus Christ and to the sacraments, especially the Eucharist. Drawing on the Catholic Social Teaching of the Church, we have a deep commitment to supporting a range of charitable organisations, families and individuals in need.
St Joseph’s has established a Mini-Vinnies group who have taken responsibility for many outreach programs including Project Compassion, St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal, Catholic Care ‘Gift of Goodness’, St Vincent de Paul Christmas appeal and CWF Appeal. Our Pope Francis Award group of children also assists with these appeals as well as a variety of other outreach initiatives.
The school’s main annual fundraiser is Nagle day. The whole school is responsible for this day. The day raises significant funds and is used to support current pressing events within our world.
